FF7 Key To Sector 5 Location And How To Use It

In the original Final Fantasy VII, returning to Midgar later in the story allows players to retrieve valuable missed items and explore familiar locations. To gain entry back into the locked city, you must obtain a key item known as the Key to Sector 5. This key opens the front gates of Midgar, granting access to the Sector 5 Slums and Wall Market.

Prerequisites for Finding the Key

Before you can dig up the key, you must progress to a specific point in the story. The key becomes available in Bone Village after Cloud rejoined the party in Mideel during Disc 2. Optionally, you can speak to the man standing outside the Midgar gates to hear about his lost keycard, though this conversation is not strictly required.

Exact Location of the Key to Sector 5

To locate the item, travel to Bone Village on the Northern Continent. Speak with the leader at the site and select the option to dig for Good Treasure. Place your excavators or set off a detonation on the upper level near the broken airplane hull. Direct the workers to dig near the wreckage, and open the chest that appears the following morning to claim the key.

How to Use the Key to Sector 5

Once the item is in your inventory, return to the main entrance gate of Midgar on the World Map. Walk up to the locked doors, and Cloud will automatically use the Key to Sector 5 to unlock the gateway. Stepping inside takes you directly back into the Sector 5 Slums.

Key Rewards and Secret Items Unlocked

Unlocking the gates lets you return to the Wall Market to collect rare equipment. You can obtain Tifa's ultimate weapon, Premium Heart, from the defective vending machine in the weapon shop. Additionally, players can purchase the rare Sneak Glove accessory from the item vendor.
